Alice’s belongings were stolen from the boot of her car. Alice was visiting the local tourist attractions and left her luggage including her clothes, passport, laptop, phone and camera locked in the boot of her rental car. She heard her car alarm going off and quickly returned to the car. When approaching the vehicle she noticed that the window had been smashed and the back seats were folded down. All her luggage was stolen from the boot. Alice asked locals for directions to the nearest police station. She made a report and police began trying to find her lost luggage. They were unsuccessful in locating her belongings. Alice called her travel insurer to help. As Alice had locked her items in the boot and the theft occurred during daylight hours, her travel insurance policy covered the costs of Alice’s stolen belongings.
