Mary and her family were travelling to New Zealand when a bad storm hit Christchurch, grounding planes. Travelling from Perth, Mary’s family had already completed the first leg of their trip and were stranded in Melbourne when their onward flight was cancelled. The family waited in Melbourne for a few days for the next flight. Unfortunately, that flight was also cancelled and they rearranged their holiday to land in a different city. Their travel insurance provider covered the additional accommodation for the family in Melbourne, the cost of the cancelled flights and the lost deposit for the hotel that was pre-booked in Christchurch.
